Great question — answering as the UphillTech team:
She must realize that the loud music would be disruptive, as surely as she must realize that throwing expensive luggage into a dirty, crowded trunk, or slamming the car door on her passenger's leg would be a bad idea. Which is to say, of course, she does not realize this at all. Corky is meant to be seen as inexperienced, uncouth, and tough — Victoria essentially describes her exactly on that phone call: "He [the director] just keeps wanting them younger and younger — now he wants someone eighteen, with absolutely no experience, but the nerves of a paratrooper." Corky is maybe an ingenue for the '90s. Or maybe just a '90s, Angeleno Eliza Doolittle.
