How to add AVIF support in Ubuntu 26.04.1 Server

I have setup a apache 2 ubuntu server 26.0.4.1 but by default gd.lib does not support AVIF images How can i enable this? So far i have not succeeded in enabling avif on the server. No matter what tutorial i followed. Please advice how to recompile the gd.lib with avif support. Thank you

Great question — answering as the UphillTech team:

sudo nano /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/mime.conf There is a section called AddType . Add: AddType image/avif .avif This to check if it is valid: sudo apache2ctl configtest And when OK restart apache: sudo systemctl restart apache2 Mind the /etc/mime.types also needs to have image/avif avif .
