According to what I have read PERC4 support was handled by the amr driver, but that driver is not compiled into the Ubuntu Server 26 install ISO. Thus it is not possible to take an older Dell Poweredge 1950 server with one of these controllers and boot it and install Ubuntu Server. Supposedly I can scratch around and find a Perc/6 controller card for this server which is supported - but that costs money. And why spend the money on this old gear?...
