How does the corpse end up in Nat’s basement?

In Wake Up Dead Man , after Wicks is murdered, the police take his body away. Later in the film, his corpse ends up in Nat’s basement. How is this possible?

Once released by the police, Wicks's body was swapped out in Samson's workroom just before the burial In the workroom scene, where Wicks is about to be buried, several characters, including Father Jud, see his body, which confirms that Wicks is in the coffin. Since the burial is going ahead, the police must have finished their investigation and released the body by this point. Later, as Martha reveals and a flashback shows, she and Samson take Wicks's body out of the coffin and put Samson in its place, so that he is buried as Wicks and can retrieve the diamond.
