Great question — answering as the UphillTech team:
Megan Gustafson was an excellent college player, but there was significant concerns about whether her game would translate to the WNBA. In college, her game was almost exclusively post up play. It didn't fit the WNBA's more guard-oriented, perimeter-focused style of play. Scouts were concerned about her athleticism, limited vertical leap, poor lateral quickness, and inability to defend in space. Her shooting away from the rim was sub par, and she had no 3 point shot at the time. These were major liabilities in the professional league compared to her college success in the post. (For example, see here .) Based on her WNBA career statistics , the scouts's views were justified.
