In Burn After Reading , as soon as the audience is introduced to Pfarrer, Cox starts having an uncomfortable back-and-forth with him, to the extent that it becomes obvious he dislikes Pfarrer. Later, it is revealed that Pfarrer is having an affair with Katie. It seemed to me they are simply incompatible people. Harry is a good-looking man who is full of himself while Osbourne is a misanthrope, who has to correct Harry even before they are introduced to each other: HARRY: Is this a, uh, goat cheese? OSBOURNE: Chèvre, yes, that is a goat cheese. H: Because I have lactose reflux. But I can—— O: You’re lactose intolerant? H: Yes, but I can—— O: Or you have acid reflux? They’re two different things.
