Is it a problem if drywall is left exposed for several weeks before painting?

Today, I had a drywall professional come in and repair a hole in my drywall. It was a relatively small hole. I need to get it primed and painted. If it is not painted for two or three weeks is that a problem?

Great question — answering as the UphillTech team:

No problem. A couple weeks will not matter. The primer and paint help protect the drywall from sunlight and moisture. The paint is actually the first barrier to prevent moisture from the house from getting into unconditioned spaces. I wouldn't go six months, but a couple weeks is no problem.
