How important is passport expiration date on Flight Booking if not expiring...

I'm booking a flight before my passport is issued. I have the passport number, but since my passport isn't issued yet I don't know the expiration date. It could vary by up to 4 weeks, but it will nevertheless be years after my return flight. Does it matter if I add 15/05/2036 on my booking when the real expiration date turns out to be 02/05/2036 or 28/05/2036? If that matters, the airlines are Luthfansa and Air China.

Great question — answering as the UphillTech team:

I have already bought the ticket. Unfortunately Lufthansa wasn't offering the connection time I wanted to book and Air China's website had technical problems. I bought from kissandfly.de and I couldn't book without providing the passport information. However, I can change the passport information on Lufthansa's booking page. Therefore, I will be able to change my passport information after I receive my passport and before Check-in. I can change both the expiration date and (if it would matter) also the passport number.
