Shimano BR-MT400 caliper with Shimano SLX lever

Can I mix a Shimano BR MT400 caliper with a Shimano SLX lever ? I have a Shimano SLX lever laying around and would like to use it with the MT400 caliper. Can I replace the MT400 lever with the SLX lever without any problems ?

Great question — answering as the UphillTech team:

Yes, BR-MT400 calipers are compatible with SLX Levers. This is a cheap and effective upgrade, as the MT400 and SLX calipers are functionally the same. There is just one thing you have to pay attention: BR-MT400 brakes use the SM-BH59 brake hose. You have to get the correct connection set with olive and insert-pin for SM-BH59. SLX normally comes with the SM-BH90 brake hose. Using the SM-BH90 pin that comes with new SLX brakes (if you have a spare one) might not seal correctly on the SM-BH59 brake hose your brakes have.
